A seasoned American actor, producer and director, David Hyde Pierce was notable for playing the role of psychiatrist Dr. Niles Crane on the NBC sitcom Frasier, which aired from 1993 to 2004, and where he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for eleven consecutive years — winning in 1995,1998, 1999 and 2004.
David started his love for music and acting when he was young. He studied classical piano at Yale University but later shifted to studying acting. He graduated with a double major in English and Theatre Arts in 1981.
During the late 80s and early 90s, he moved to New York to pursue his acting career. He took up acting at Michael Howard Studios while juggling menial jobs that included working as a security guard and selling ties at Bloomingdale’s. Later on, he starred in other movies such as Nixon (1995), Sleepless in Seattle (1993), and Down With Love (2003). In 2015, David directed ‘It Shoulda Been You’, a Broadway musical production and ‘Ripcord’, an off-Broadway production.
