Miss Russia, Anna Linnikova, asserts that the Miss Universe 2023 competition was rigged in favor of the Ukrainian and US contestants and that she was “avoided” and “shunned” by rivals.
The Miss Universe pageant in the United States ended on January 15, however, it gave one contestant some bad experiences in addition to strong competition.
Miss Russia, Anna Linnikova, was recently crowned the first runner-up in the Miss Universe 2022 pageant. She shared that some of her fellow contestants rejected and “shunned” her due to cultural differences.

Miss Russia 2023 Alleges Shunning by Other Contestants
In an interview with Evening Moscow, Miss Russia said that she had heard “negative comments from the acquaintances at the event.”
Linnikova told Evening Moscow she believes “everything about the top-16 stage has an exclusively political context” and that her inability to reach the contest’s final stage didn’t have “anything to do with the quality of my performance.” She added that it is “very symbolic” that both an American and a Ukrainian won two nominations at the competition. Miss Ukraine did not make the top 16 either, though she did win a Spirit of Carnival award during the pageant.
She told the publication, “It was incredibly difficult. From the very start, I experienced a constant stream of insults and threats from Ukrainian social media users. Particularly awful were the harsh remarks from longstanding Ukrainian acquaintances.
She alleged that other competitors avoided her due to her nationality.
“The girls from Switzerland and Ukraine often ran from me like fire, while many others avoided and shunned me just after learning about my roots,” she said.
She mentioned Miss Venezuela because of her friendliness when asked which female had the largest influence on her.
It’s challenging to single out just one contestant, but Ms. Linnikova suggested that “let it be a girl from Venezuela – she was extremely nice and attentive to others. Perhaps it was this energy and charisma that helped her take second place.”
Miss Russia is a frequent user of social media, and she has about 90,000 Instagram followers. On her Instagram profile, she shared a photo of herself with India’s Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu, the reigning Miss Universe 2021.
Miss Ukraine Viktoria Apanasenko, Ms. Linnikova’s Ukrainian counterpart, refused to speak to her, appearing to disregard (Linnikova due to) her nation’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, which Ms. Linnikova called “sad.”
Meet Anna Linnikova, Russia’s Miss Universe 2023 Contestant
Anna Linnikova won the national beauty pageant in Russia and represents her country in the Miss Universe 2023 competition.
Initially employed as a factory worker, Anna’s modeling career unexpectedly took off after she wanted to update her online profile photo.
Let’s get to know the young woman who represented Russia in New Orleans in more detail.
In this year’s Miss Universe pageant, which took place in New Orleans, Louisiana, Russia’s Anna Linnikova, 22, placed as one of the 86 most attractive women in the world, although she was unable to place in the top 16.
The national costume round, when Anna made her entrance in the short dress called “The Crown of the Russian Empire,” adorned with pearls, zirconium, and ruby crystals and inspired by the Romanov era, was one of the most memorable parts of the event.
Anna competed in her second beauty contest. Before that, she competed in and won the national Miss Russia beauty pageant, defeating more than 75,000 other contestants all around the nation. She received a contract worth almost one million U.S. Dollars as her grand prize. Nevertheless, the young woman keeps saying she never imagined herself working in the fashion industry or participating in beauty contests.
Early Life and Career
In the town of Orenburg, Anna was born into a typical household. At the age of 14, she obtained her first job. “I went to the youth work center since it was something I genuinely wanted to accomplish,” she recalls. She has a younger brother whose recuperation cost the entire family’s wealth because he was severely injured as an infant.
When an agency came across the profile photo she had posted on social media following an outdoor photo shoot, it was a complete accident that launched her modeling career. “I simply wanted to update my VK [Russian social network] photo and ended up with a contract as a result, which marked the start of my foreign travels,” she recalls. She was in China three months later, then moved on to Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia, and other Asian nations.
She was driven to finish her physics-mathematics schoolwork online as a result. She claims she was surprised to discover that her remote learning was doing better than when she was seated at a desk in the classroom.
According to Anna, her attributes of perseverance, conscientiousness, and work ethic are what have ultimately brought her to where she is today. Despite standing at 173 cm, she managed to enter the elite league despite her (by model standards) very modest height.
“I constantly attempt to save money aside and make investments in my career and my company. My first paycheck went into a savings account.
Anna is currently enrolled in a Public Relations course at the St. Petersburg University of Technology, Management, and Economics in addition to her modeling work. She intends to pursue a second degree in art history and is now creating her clothing line, called “Line 44.” She has a strong grasp of both the English and French languages and has always been interested in culture and the arts.
She likes beautiful makeup, yet she’s not scared to go without it. “I frequently forgo cosmetics and have an open mind about it. I might do my eyebrows and add a little blush.”
The goal should be to maintain healthy, beautiful skin. I try to drink a lot of water—about 1.5 liters each day—while putting a lot of emphasis on moisturizing. Of course, you should also obtain enough rest. It’s the most crucial beauty secret.
With a junk food feast, Anna celebrated her first “Miss Russia” victory in 2022. She acknowledges that she doesn’t follow any rigorous diets and instead just trusts her gut. “My body is currently in a condition of equilibrium, thus I don’t frequently choose bad foods. I would much rather have a salad or some fish and vegetables, though. I also adore fruit. I never deprive myself of pleasure if I ever have a bad craving. The key is moderation.”
Anna is unable to picture her life without sports. She enjoyed running in high school and still goes to the gym frequently today.
The 22-year-old says, “My heart is currently available,” but she withholds most of her personal information.
