Google has just announced that John Legend will be the voice of Google Assistant for a day. This is part of their “A Day with Google Assistant” series, which gives users the chance to experience what it would be like to use Google Assistant with different voices. Starting today, April 26th, you can ask John Legend anything you want and he will respond!
To change your voice to John Legend, simply say “Hey Google, talk like a Legend.” You can ask him about his day, what he’s up to, or anything else you want to know. This is a great way to get to know the man behind the voice and learn more about what goes into making Google Assistant sound so natural.
Google Assistant
Google began an intriguing artificial intelligence project. Its Siri-like virtual assistant will mimic the suave voice of Grammy-winning musician John Legend if you tell it to “talk like a Legend.” The singer contributed to a controversial yet promising use case for AI.
Computers can be more enjoyable to converse with when using voice-impersonation software, but in the wrong hands, they could be exploited to create deceptive “deep fakes.” How effective is modern voice copying technology? The project from Google offers a glimpse.
Using recordings from the Google Assistant app and a business video featuring Legend footage in the recording studio, WIRED created some audio samples to contrast the actual and false Legends. Imagine The Voice: AIgorithmic Edition of it.
The voice of Legend was created using WaveNet, a speech-synthesis technique, just like the other Google Assistant voices. It was built in late 2016 by DeepMind, an AI research division of Alphabet with offices in London. It was a step forward in developing synthetic speech, claims Khoury. When Google updated the voice of Google Assistant in 2017, it put technology into the hands of millions of people. Duplex phone bots, which make restaurant bookings, are also powered by WaveNet.
Product Endorsement
Google is announcing new products and technological advancements at its annual I/O developer’s conference. According to Engadget, Google CEO Sundar Pichai has revealed that John Legend’s voice will be one of six new options for the Google Assistant, the virtual assistant included with the company’s Android and Google Home products. The new voices use Google’s WaveNet technology, which constructs phrases from sound waves rather than speech pieces. John Legend is ready to use as your assistant every day!
John Legend
John Roger Stephens is one of the most popular and well-known recording artists today. His voice is smooth, comforting, and instantly recognizable. Google is sure to gain some new users with this latest addition to its lineup.
So if you’re looking for a change of pace, or just want to hear John Legend’s voice every day, be sure to try out this new feature from Google. You might just find yourself talking to your assistant more often than you thought!

Thoughts
Chrissy Teigen is not the only member of the Legend family to promote a product that is worth purchasing. John Legend, the spouse, has received some endorsements as well. One of the few we endorse? Google Assistant. Even though Legend’s calming voice cameo is no longer present on the smart speaker. The Google Home and Nest Mini are still fantastic solutions for daily usage. They can be readily integrated into your home and have a variety of uses.
